Stirred to Action

Ah ... something new to write on ... the 'great debate' to be a constitutional monarchy or not to be tis finer to ... Okay so there is a limit to how long I can sustain that form. There has been much debate this week in the press here regarding whether or not we should become a republic. Reasonings by and large fall into the world of philosophy. A republican structure would more accurately reflect our democratic traditions of government by and for the people. A monarch at the top of this little pyramid is, I admit, anachronistic. We can vote for everyone in our political system except for the person who is at the very top of the muck heap. How does that work? Well according to one commentator this allowed us to have a better kind of person at the head of our government but, when challenged was unable to clarify just how on earth being born to your mother and father made you a better kind of person. Absolute snobbery to be honest. I then came across the following in The Weekly -...

Santa

I think that santa channeled Cher this year... I popped him there intending to move him to somewhere a bit more befitting his status and never got around to it so he spent his Christmas this year looking like he should be dressed in freaky black lace. I tried to find a picture of Cher from that clip, I'm sure you all know the one I'm referring to and so many photos of her came up I could not find the one I was looking for. I did find this cute cat on Lotsa'Splainin'2Do's blog. Thought it was worth a share ... so is the blog to be honest. Christmas was a home made affair this year with the guys in my family all getting home made yummies .... mmm yummy

I've been working on a small quilt for a relative. These images are from early on when I was making the applique shapes. I'll put up a finished version ... when it is finished ... sigh ... good at starting projects, finishing ... maybe by admitting here that I'm working on the project will help me finish it. These have all been 'glued' onto the backing fabric and most of them now sewn on.

We've had a brilliant year in the garden what with silver beet, snow peas, cauliflower and broccoli. My favourite however have been the tomatoes. I enjoyed this shot so much I just had to share it. The apples are now well and truly being eaten ... well shared with the birds really. There is no way we can eat the entire harvest so I don't really mind too much if they eat a few.

Chain texts and emails

So explain this to me ... Why did I get woken up at 6:40 am today by one of those chain text messages? Not only that, but it was so long that it came through on my phone as three messages, so not only did I get woken up early but then my phone kept beeping at me until such time as it had all come in despite my best efforts in my sleepy state to find the off button. What really intrigues me is that I rarely get chain emails and texts from people who I have regular chats to either in email form or over the phone. I only ever get them from people who I've had little to do with for the better part of a decade other than to get the occasional random mass send out that results when you press the 'send to absolutely everyone in my contacts list even those I can't remember who they are' button. Yet these messages always seek to assure me that I am a most special and treasured friend of theirs. Such a special friend that the only messages I get from them are imperson...
